The arrest, which took place at Manoj’s residence in Tirupati, saw him taken into custody and shifted to the Bhakarapet police station. The complaint from Mohan Babu is reportedly related to a family matter, sparking an investigation that led to the actor’s detention.

This development comes just a day after Manoj’s public appearance at a Jallikattu event in the Chandragiri constituency of Chittoor district. His arrival was enthusiastically celebrated by fans, who included members of the TDP, Janasena, and NTR fan clubs. During the event, Manoj had also hinted at his political ambitions. Before this, he was seen meeting Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh at the Renigunta airport.

The family feud has been a subject of public interest since last year, when Mohan Babu filed a complaint against Manoj and his wife, Mounika, alleging they had forcibly occupied his home in Hyderabad. Manoj, in turn, had accused unidentified individuals of attacking him.

Mohan Babu’s family dispute

The Manchu family is comprised of Mohan Babu and his three children – Manchu Vishnu, Manchu Lakshmi, and Manchu Manoj. There has been grappling with deep-seated tensions. Reports indicate a long-standing rift between Manoj and Vishnu. It is primarily over the division of the family’s extensive business and property holdings. These assets include educational institutions like Mohan Babu University and the Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust. Vishnu holds key roles, unlike Manoj. Furthermore, the family is believed to have disapproved of Manoj’s marriage to Mounika. This may have contributed to the escalating tensions.

Mohan Babu’s business empire encompasses the production company Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures and co-ownership in two other production houses. Vishnu and Lakshmi manage 24 Frames Factory and Manchu Entertainment, respectively. Manoj launched his own production house, MM Arts, in 2019. However, his debut project, “Aham Brahmasmi,” has not yet been completed. In March 2023, Manoj publicly accused Vishnu of assaulting his staff.
